You may have noticed that major work is done in Phoenix. According to a senior official of the Road Development Authority (RDA), this is a stretch (bypass) will be constructed in front of the beer factory Phoenix Beverages Limited. It is known as the Pont Fer Bypass.

This project is part of the Road Congestion Program. After Triolet and Goodlands, it's time for Pont Fer soon have its 'bypass'.

These works fit well into the expansion project of the Third Way, Pont Fer to St John. The purpose of this bypass is to relieve that part of the busy road which bottlenecks at peak times slow traffic.

The project cost is estimated at around Rs 140 million. Gamma Civic is that loads of work, which has already begun. The RDA believes they should be completed by September. As this work may cause some slowing, the RDA requires the understanding of the drivers. 

The senior officer explained that the work took longer than expected because of problems land acquisition have emerged. However, the work of the third way, of St. John to Pont Fer and vice versa continues apace. 

The senior officer of the RDA said that from August 2, motorists can take, in part, the third way, from Phoenix Les Halles to Trianon, before Shoprite. 80% of the expansion of Pont Fer - St Jean has also been completed. It is expected that the work be completed by the end of the year to avoid the caps of the Christmas period year. 

The officer of the GDR has indicated that as far as this work continues, the third way will be gradually opened to motorists.
