Penalty Points: 338,000 People Have Not Recovered their Driving Licence Counterpart
The deadline is approaching! The deadline to get the Driving Licence Counterpart (DLC) is March 21, but so far, they are some 312 000 people (650 000) to have recovered their DLC.

Death, absence from the territory, too old to drive or simple oversight: it would explain why 338,000 Mauritians have not recovered their precious document, said Inspector Mohit Ramah of the Traffic Branch. The exercise of the DLC distribution began on 21 January. It might, however, that this period is rejected.

"The Traffic Branch analyze the data. Decision will be made next week about a possible return of the deadline. To date, the date of March 21 is retained for the distribution of the DLC, "says Mohit Ramah.

Our interlocutor said that those who were not in Mauritius and who return after March 21 will go to the office of the Traffic Branch to take possession of their DLC. Here too, this will be the case. The inspector Ramah said that since the distribution of DLC, 7000 applications for a new license were recorded.

"We receive 200 applications for new licenses per day. This hinders the distribution a little, but we do our best, "says Mohit Ramah.

DCL will be appended to the license. It will indicate to the driver the number of points he has accumulated through the introduction of the penalty points on 1 April 2013.
