2 Accidents Leave One in ICU, Another Dead
Ootam Jugbundhun, 45, from Lallmatie is in a critical state following his involvement in a road accident late on Sunday. According to latest information, the victim is still in a serious condition and is admitted at the SSRN hospital in Pamplemousses.

The car aboard which he was travelling crashed into a tree at Grande Rosalie.

Two other passengers, Jayanand Sungkur and Kishore Sungkur, of La Paix in Piton also received treatment at the hospital for less serious injuries.

Officers of the Pamplemousses police station submitted the 42-year-old driver Navinsingh Taukoordass to an alcotest. The results came back negative and he was released on parole.

Another accident which happened earlier that same day cost the life of 13-year-old Estephanie Nathalline Moocarme. She had been travelling on a motorcycle with her uncle, 32-year-old Jean Patrick Adrien, at Rivière des Creoles when the accident happened.

Adrien is currently receiving medical care at the Jawaharlal Nehru hospital in Rose Belle. Police believe volunteers had brought him to hospital but had somehow not seen the girl lying there.

She was later found lying dead along the New Link road.

Mahébourg police hope to shed more light on the circumstances of the accident once Adrien is able to give a statement.
