3643 New Vehicles Sold in Five Months: Automarket Starts to Slow Down
2013 will be a less successful year for the automotive market, say dealers. The effects of the crisis are singled out.

After a strong performance in 2012, where 9,423 vehicles were sold against 7958 in 2011 (+18.4%), automotive experiencing a slowdown. Between January and May, there are only 3,643 new vehicles were sold.

"We definitely sell less than 9000 vehicles this year. The situation will be more difficult. The effects of the economic crisis began to be felt. There is a clear reluctance, "says Virginia Quevauvilliers, marketing manager at Leal & Co. Ltd. The market for used cars is not doing better.

3163 second hand vehicles were sold during the first five months of the year (note: 5500 cars were sold in 2012 against 5,800 in 2011). "We have started the year, but we note in recent times a lull. I would even say that it is the big slowdown. The tendency is to 'wait and see', "says Zaid Ameer, President of Imported Vehicles Dealers Association.
