Crash Camp Levieux: Driver of NTC Bus Arrested and Detained
Rakesh Ramessur, the bus driver of the NTC involved in a road accident occurred at Camp Levieux yesterday morning, Thursday, June 13, was arrested.

He spent the night in a police cell and will be transported in court this Friday, June 14. Aged 38, Rakesh Ramessur was driving the bus registered 2526 JN 00 brand Ashock Leyland. The vehicle that opened on the main road, hit a school van with several students on board. The van overturned after the collision.

This accident injured 18 (17 students and the driver of the van). Four of them were admitted to the hospital, including two in the intensive care unit. Their condition is considered stable.

Rakesh Ramessur emptied the scene after the accident. He said he fled because he feared for his safety. He gave his version of events to the police station to Rose Hill in the course of the day. 

As the driver of the van, Sahid Heesambee, he was wounded in the right hand. He had to undergo surgery.
