Dookun-Luchoomun To Be Shifted From ICU
Former minister Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun will soon be shifted from the intensive care unit (ICU) said former MSM minister Maya Hanoomanjee to The Independent on Wednesday.

“We are very satisfied with the treatment that she is receiving. The doctors have said that she would be soon shifted from the ICU,” Hanoomanjee, who has been visiting her colleague daily.

Dookun-Luchoomun was admitted to the ICU at Victoria hospital after she was seriously injured in a road accident that took place around 4 pm on October 29 in Phoenix. Her car struck a hand rail.

According to her, Dookun-Luchoomun has overcome a really difficult phase. “She will go through a re-education process soon,” she said.

Two neurologists, Dr Ramesh Modun and Dr Hemraz Boodhoo performed surgery after an MRI of the minister’s upper body. Dr Boodhoo said, “We saw some complications in her left eye. After re-education, we will be able to know if she will regain her sight completely.”
