Drive Responsible Without Phones
"The cars spare parts, but human bodies do not". This was said Anil Bachoo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Infrastructure, Wednesday, at the launch of the campaign against the use of mobile phones while driving in Ibeloise the 6th floor of IBL House Caudan.

This campaign is organized by his ministry in collaboration with Mauritius Telecom 'and' Special Road Safety Unit, Office of the Prime Minister.

"We have witnessed an unprecedented development in hardware and software for mobile phones. But the positive development in the standards of conduct for Mauritian drivers are unfortunately much behind, "he lamented. Thus, hopes this campaign will be successful and contribute to the goal to reduce and prevent road accidents with the help and contribution of all citizens. 

"Some people might be surprised to see a telephone company s associate with this campaign not to use the phones while driving. Mauritius Telecom Orange brand is a responsible company, which encourage customers to use services. So we think it is important to emphasize responsible use, "said Sarat Lallah, CEO of Mauritius Telecom. 

"Awareness is not enough, that's why we favor the approach that combines education and police check, "said Ben Buntipilly, Special Advisor to Prime Minister on road safety. He also stated that a schedule of activities, focusing on different topics has already been established to be followed on a monthly basis.
