Man killed in road accident at Constance
Ashwin Meelun, a 32-year-old bank manager, died in a road accident on Thursday. The car he was traveling in collided with an oncoming lorry at Constance, Flacq.

The victim, who was from Ecroignard, Flacq, died from a brain hemorrhage. He was accompanied by his cousin, a bank manager from Petit Bois, Caroline. His cousin was also injured and was admitted to Flacq hospital.

Meanwhile, the lorry driver Jonas Neslon, 23, from Plaisance, Rose Hill, was alcotested negatively. He appeared at the District Court of Flacq on Thursday under a charge of fatal road accident involving wounds and blows causing death.

The victim’s cousin refused to perform an alcotest and told investigators that the deceased was driving the black Mitsubishi. However, the lorry driver challenged this version and alleged that late Meelun was in the passenger’s seat.

A police investigation is underway at the Flacq police station to shed more light on the case.
