Manslaughter Charge on Driver after Sunday’s Crash Victim Dies
A driver has been arrested in connection with the fatal car crash that took place on Sunday evening involving two pedestrians in Grand River North West.

Lee Moyo Li Touk That was charged with manslaughter at the Port Louis District Court on Monday.

Touk That was granted bail and needs to report to the Rose Hill police station regularly.

According to the suspect he was driving towards Port Louis when the victim jumped in front of his car.

Statements recorded from police sources say that the victim was crossing the road in front of the GRNW bus stand at around 6.50 pm when the accident occurred.

The victim was then admitted to the intensive care unit at Jeetoo hospital after SAMU attended the accident and passed away at 2 am on Monday.

The autopsy that was carried out by the police medical officer certified cause of death to multiple injuries.

Locals said the victim had not used the zebra crossing to cross the road.
